First grade is a very exciting time for children. Students are given opportunities to take foundational skills from kindergarten and grow into independent learners. Reading is a key skill that is improved with the start of the Advanced Reading program. Handwriting and sentence structure is also improved so students begin to take on more skills of grammar. Students participate in daily Bible studies and devotionals that encourage a growing faith. Field trips that enhance our curriculum provide hands-on learning opportunities. Through caring guidance, first graders develop a great sense of accomplishment. Through school-wide chapels, programs and extra-curricular activities, first grade students develop a broader sense of belonging in our greater school community.
