Ezell-Harding Christian School

4th Grade
Fourth grade is an exciting journey where many discoveries and adventures are made. The Bible is our guide for life and in fourth grade we study the beginnings of Man and God’s plan in the books of Genesis and Exodus. We explore many different topics in Science through differentiated instruction including Ecosystems, Volcanoes, Electricity, and Weather. In English, we review basic grammar and learn to write more complex pieces including a research paper. Multiplication, Division, Place Value, Fractions, and Decimals are just a few of the many topics covered in Math. Reading includes Story Elements, Basic comprehension skills, and several wonderful book units. Independent reading is encouraged through the use of the Accelerated Reading program. Vocabulary is expanded through the use of the Wordly Wise workbooks. Social Studies explores the geography and beginnings of our country. Springtime finds us wrapping up the year with the study of our great state, Tennessee. Some wonderful Tennessee projects include the Tennessee Museum items, Famous Tennessean Oral Reports, and the Tennessee Scrapbooks. We also go on several educational field trips including Traveller’s Rest, The Hermitage, Sam Davis Home, and The Downtown Walking Tour.
